Nuvoton Technology Corporation today launched the new member of
NuMicro™ microcontroller family － M058S series, the ARM® Cortex ™-M0
32-bit microcontroller built based on the success of the popular Mini51
series. In addition to providing all the features from Mini51 and M051™,
the M058S upgrades the system frequency from 24 MHz to 50 MHz, offers
built-in 8-channel 12-bit A/D with I/O expanded to 55 pins, enhance
Mini51 and M051™ series in the I/O requirements and provides three kinds
of packaging: QFN33, LQFP48 and LQFP64, wherein LQFP48 and QFN33 are pin
compatible with the Mini51 and M051™ series. The rich peripheral serial
communication interfaces (e.g. UART, SPI, I2C) can reduce the
peripheral, PCB size and cost, and the built-in high-precision frequency
oscillator system is ideal for all kinds of industrial products and
consumer product applications.
The M058S series operates at 2.5V ~ 5.5V, -40 ~ 85℃, and features up to
55 I/Os with functions of some pins shared, fast 12-bit A/D, 16-bit PWM,
built-in high precision RC oscillator, 32-bit multiplier, structure NVIC
(Nested Interrupt Control), 32 Kbytes Flash ROM, 4 Kbytes ISP ROM, and 2
Kbytes SRAM; the peripheral integrates one UART, one SPI, two I2C, four
32-bit Timers, WDT, low voltage reset, and Brown-out detection. The
other functions cover a wide range of different products to meet
customer needs, such as RF modules, industrial control, data collection
devices, and consumer products. With more attention to cost-effective
products currently, the M058S series provides users with an excellent
cost-effective product solution.
The NuTiny-SDK-M058S is a development kit which supports the M058S
series to work with Keil RVMDK, IAR EWARM evaluation development
environment – a free and open development tool, including project
manager, editor, compiler tools and debugger. Additionally, Nuvoton
provides the ISP (In System Program), ICP (In Circuit Program) and IAP
(In Application Program) function, by either on-line or off-line
programming system to update flash memory program.
The M058S series is now in volume production and offers the M058SZAN
QFN33 (5mm x 5mm), M058SLAN LQFP48 (7mm x 7mm) and M058SSAN LQFP64 (7mm
x 7mm) package types for various applications.

provides cost-effective microcontroller products to meet customer’s
ISSI's Portfolio of Mobile DDR DRAMs
ISSI has a wide offering of mobile DDR DRAMs (also known as LPDDR) from
32Mbit to 2Gbit. The industry originally developed mobile DDR products
for the hand-held consumer segment, but these DRAMs have been adopted
into industrial, automotive and networking applications, have broad
support from mainstream microprocessors. ISSI is sampling the following
products this quarter, ramping into mass production Q3.

Visual Alarms with an ISSI HBLED Driver
For many years the dreaded, high-pitched audible alarm signal has been
the primary warning of a fire. However, in many cases, a visual signal
is a critical alert for those who are deaf or hard of hearing, work in a
noisy environment, or those who cannot bear the high-pitched decibels.
For these people and others, help is on the way. Recently, governments
around the world have begun mandating that audible alarms be
supplemented with a visual alarm signal. Many of these initiatives will
begin implementation this year. The challenge for the alarm system
engineers is to design a device that efficiently produces an intense
light using minimal circuitry, while operating from a back-up battery.
In addition, the complete solution must be at a minimal increase to
system cost. Fortunately, ISSI has the perfect component to solve the
problem. An ISSI HB LED driver, the IS31LT3360 simplifies the visual
alarm design, requiring only six components, including the IC. Designs
using this device will be capable of efficiently driving a single
LED--or even multiple LEDs—connected in series at up to 1.2A. When used
in an alarm system, the microcontroller can easily enable or disable the
IS31LT3360 via a single control pin (ADJ) so it will generate the visual
alarm notification when required. The microcontroller can also adjust
the light brightness of the IS31LT3360 by applying a PWM control to the
ADJ. Example schematics are included in the datasheet. With the new
legislation in place, ISSI expects our customers to be looking for the
most cost-effective and simple solution to add visual signaling. ISSI
also offers audio amplifiers such as the IS31AP4990 that can address the
